The Delhi born Sacred Games famed actor “Jatin Sarna” made an amazingly interesting post on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/thejatinsarna/ on Tuesday!
The correct Trend of #sareechallenge was taken up by Jatin Sarna as well though he was not challenged by anyone for obvious reasons! The Instagram post of Jatin Sarna was a video clip where he was getting ready to drape a saree after makeup and he quoted “Abhi ye makeup kar ke hate toh saree pehnu” the video was shot during a makeup routine for shooting sequence directed by Anurag Kashyap.
The latest trend on social media is the Saree Challenge where women clad in sarees are posting their pictures and tagging other women to post theirs as well.
The saree groups & saree bloggers have become extremely popular in recent times. It was not long ago when girls from the younger generation were sceptical of wearing saree and this beautiful Indian attire was getting restricted to occasions only. Many working women shunned their sarees into the closet and chose western attire for day to day office wear, due to it’s easy to carry factor but saree never went out of fashion.
Women always drooled upon the various textures, varieties and designs of sarees which India boast off. With the revival of sustainable fashion and revisiting our cultural roots and many designers working for handlooms, the 5000 years old garment made a huge comeback! Not to forget social media influencers who chose to drape saree regularly, it became a fashion statement rather than a traditional attire.
There are many women who took upon #100day saree pact or 365 days in saree pact and helped in reviving the daily saree wearing ritual in India. Saree also met experimentation where women are wearing sarees with formal shirts, crop tops, t-shirts & experimenting with drapes as well. Nowadays saree is becoming a sought after office wears too.
The interesting Instagram posthttps://www.instagram.com/p/B-bcjOmJpKg/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link comes at a point where few people are complaining of being flooded with saree pictures, Jatin Sarna sportingly took upon this challenge and even tagged along with Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar!
We could not stay away without asking him “What made you go for this, experiment on experience?
He shared ”I always loved the saree. Women look so gorgeous and beautiful in sarees. It represents our Indian culture and attire and I loved my mom sporting sarees from my childhood days. Like many of us, I too remember sarees very vividly during the farewell of 10th standard, when all our classmates came dressed in sarees and they all look amazingly gorgeous!
During the current challenge I saw so many women posting their pictures in sarees and they look all lovely and there were certain energy and power in those images and then I decided to be a part of this challenge although no-one challenged me!
I felt that maybe during this time when the whole world is stuck into the negativity spread by the virus my attempt will bring a smile to faces. This was one of the main reason I chose to post the video on Instagram.”
We must say that he looked very comfortable while getting his makeup!
What will he say to women who are struggling with work from home and no help still keeping up the positive saree challenge?
The response will surely make a huge female fan following as Jatin responded “Yes, it is a bit difficult for everyone regarding the work from home but I feel the women showed us – why should boys have all the fun?
for me, saree is an expression of freedom, an expression of uniqueness and the madness of being in love with yourself. I feel draping saree during these tough times is making them more joyful and women tagging each other is like spreading happiness in the community where every woman is draping and sharing their pictures and the challenge is being taken in a very good spirit.
I personally loved this. So many of my friends, my family & my sisters are taking up this challenge and I am enjoying that spirit of freedom and power which the saree brings. I salute every woman who is part of my journey!”
The heartening message might not beat away the negativity and blues of present times but it definitely shows that we need to find happiness in our own ways.
